MFC Apps with Feature Pack

Well I finally installed the new Visual Studio 2008, primarily because I wanted to look at the new feature pack for MFC. But before I installed the feature pack, I thought I would take a look at what was available as MFC applications. These are shown in the following screen shot.

MFC Without Feature Pack

Once you install the MFC feature pack, two more project styles become available.

If you choose to create an Office type project, then you get the following framework once you compile.

Overall I like the new features. According to what I can find on MSDN, the full feature pack should be up in March 2008

WPF Links

Well I am beginning to take the plunge and look into the whole WPF Thing. Browse Browse, and there is tons of stuff online. So a few of my links so far.

My Website

Well I began working on an updated version of my website today. Find it at www.publicjoe.com. Not a lot works, but thats OK for now.

On another note, I started using dreamweaver to write my new updated site with. I am impressed, I love it, but not the cost, so when the 30 days run out, I may need to find something else. Maybe 1st Page 2006 might do the job.

    Paint .NET Portable

OK, I’m a happy man this morning. After some searching for a portable html editor, I stumbled across a version of Paint .NET that has been recompiled to be portable. You can download it at http://yerdenizden.blogspot.com/2008/01/portable-paintnet-322.html.

    GIMP Portable

While I think about it, when I am not at my standard machine, I use the GIMP for Windows to edit images. What I love about this is that there is a portable version.

    Paint .NET

I am absolutely impressed by this piece of software, fully written in C#, and full source code available.

You can download it from http://www.getpaint.net/download.html#Download. My only gripe is that it is not portable.
